Lost Whippets! Updated May 13, 2008
There are some excellent articles at Whippettalk.
This page is presented as a service to Whippet owners all over - a lost Whippet is of concern to all of us, and the families of these lost pups need all the help they can get to find their Whippets. These Whippets are NOT necessarily WRAP Whippets, but still need to be found. If they can be found and returned to their owners, they will not end up in WRAP on the "Homes Needed" page.
If a Whippet listed here is in your area and you are able, please take the time to call the contact person and offer assistance in finding the dog. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.
Postings will be updated when new information is available.

female lost on 10/31/2007
Lost whippet in the Pitt Meadows/Maple Ridge area of British Columbia
Lady was scared by fireworks and escaped from
her yard late Halloween night. She is mostly white, with brindle head marking
and small brindle patch on show side. She is quite shy. If anyone in
that area can keep their eyes/ears open it would be most appreciated. The
exact location is the Indian reserve area behind Hammond. As you can
imagine, her owners are just frantic. Any information, please call Cindy

Morehead, NC (Carteret County)
15-year-old male lost on 10/08/2007.
Pyro
Pyro was stolen from his owner's yard in October 2007. Posters have been posted around the county, ads in newspapers, police, shelters, vets, and area businesses have been contacted, with no sightings. Pyro's owner still goes out searching daily. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Binghamton, NY
7-year-old female lost around 1/20/2008.
Violet
Violet is 7 years old, fawn and white. She was lost in Binghamton, NY, and has been gone approximately two weeks. If you know of a Whippet found in that area, please contact Iva Kimmelman, iva@merciisle.com, or (978) 897-8950.

Tracie
Tracie got out of a gate which was not properly secured by workers and was not noticed to be gone for 45 minutes. She is a fawn & white parti-color, about 18" at the shoulder & 25 lbs. She is 8 years old and spayed. We live in Jarrell, which is a rural/country area with lots for her to chase so we think she is disoriented as she has never been out before.

She is white parti with black / fawn brindling. She bolted out of a friend's house 20 miles from her own home Saturday, October 27th. Last seen in the area of Royal Lane and Hwy 35 E in Dallas, TX

Black male Whippet lost on 11/24/2007.
Rio
Rio "escaped" on Nov. 24th around 8:00 PM near Melrose Drive and Custer Road in Richardson, TX.
He is neutered, he squats to pee, like a female. He has very little hair and no fat, so he is an indoor dog - especially when the weather is wet and the temp is below 50 or above 90. The night he got out was raining and in the lower 30's, so if he made it, he had a real tough time.
Please feel free to email/call me if you have any information. We would love to find Rio and reunite him with his owner. They are very worried.
West Virginia
Male Whippet lost in December 2007.
Update 1/15/2008: Sammy was last sighted in Salem, WV, near the West Virginia Industrial Home for Youth
Sammy, a nine-month-old male Whippet, white with orange brindle spots, is missing. He escaped 3 wks. ago during the recent flooding of Smithsburg, West Virginia. There was a recent sighting in Salem, West Virginia. The breeders have notified the vets and animal control in the area and his story was also on the front page of the local Smithsburg newspaper.
